On September 25, Transparency International Ukraine held a public discussion on How Citizens Change Cities.
Kateryna Tsybenko, Anastasiia Mazurok, Dmytro Boiarchuk, Maria Poloz, Aliona Kutsenko talked about how every Ukrainian wishing to make changes can already influence the life of his/her city.
We have outlined 5 main points for you:
- Find allies.
It is important to understand that united we stand, divided we fall. And support for creating changes in your city is crucial for future victories!
- Study international experience.
The successes of foreign initiatives will give you the opportunity to choose those examples that are most relevant to our local specifics. Thus, you can get the desired result in a much shorter time.
- Share your own experience.
Having victories behind your back, you should certainly share your experience. Successful examples will not only give you the strength to fight further, but also inspire others.
- Foster innovations.
Sometimes it is worth forgetting about standard methods and finding innovative ways in order to attract city dwellers. Such attraction could be, for instance, a board or online game or excursion.
- Believe in yourself.
A clear understanding of the objective point adds motivation. You will definitely be able to change your city if you already understand what it should be like.
