Kolomyia has shown a significant increase in the Transparency Ranking over the 5 years of our studies. It was ranked 17th out of 100 cities: from 18.3 points in 2017 to 66.8 in 2021.
However, Kolomyia can boast not only about this improvement. The city withstands difficulties with dignity and remains a reliable rear and shelter in the bitter time of war.
Kolomyia has hosted about 9,000 IDPs as of August (with a total of 70,000 inhabitants living in the hromada).
- Kolomyia hromada has received a lot of aid, for example, from Canada and Switzerland and from the sister city of Sighet, Romania since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
- The mobile brigade was organized in Kolomyia to advise the displaced and help solve their problems. It includes representatives of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, the Regional Center for Free Legal Aid in the region, a psychologist, and social security workers.
- Kolomyia hromada continues to assist Ukrainian defenders in various ways. A charity football tournament was organized in the city, thanks to which it was possible to collect funds for the needs of defenders of Ukraine: https://bit.ly/3QWS0xI
- Ukrainian language courses were organized in the city for IDPs who want to improve or learn Ukrainian. The courses were held in cooperation with the winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2021 Artur Proidakov.
- The volunteer initiative “Vulyk Zmistiv” (Content Hive) provides a hostel for IDPs here: https://bit.ly/3AGFJbs.
“We plan to arrange not just a shelter, we would like to build a Home. Social cohesion is at the heart of the concept. This place will be an impetus for IDPs to become part of the urban hromada.”
We are proud of our cities. The cities of brave people. And we believe in our victory!
