Cities in the rear: Cherkasy during the war

Our cities are strong and invincible, both on the front and in the rear.

Today we will talk about how Cherkasy has changed in almost 100 days of the war, and how the city functions in the conditions of war.

The Humanitarian Center has been operating in Cherkasy for three months. During this period, it has already received 21,000 people from active combat areas, distributed 100 tons of food to people in need, another 50,000 items of clothing, hygiene and medicine, 450 vehicles for children and people with disabilities.

The Department of Social Policy of the Cherkasy City Council has developed an algorithm of actions for citizens of Cherkasy to receive compensation when they accommodate internally displaced persons for free during martial law.

Cherkasy received a medal from the twin city of Bydgoszcz. From the first days, the Polish city has been helping not only with words of solidarity and condemnation of military aggression against our country, but also by sending humanitarian aid.

The city provides social and psychological assistance to internally displaced persons. Such support is extremely important for people who have been forced to leave their homes. Since the beginning of the hostilities, 611 people have appealed to the specialists of the Cherkasy City Center for Social Services, 194 of them are internally displaced persons who came from the places of active hostilities.

Enterprises that worked in war-affected regions can resume their work in Cherkasy. The Department of Economy and Development has prepared a list of areas to host evacuated production, warehouses, or offices.

And it was here that a military embroidered shirt (vyshyvanka) was created. It was the idea of a local territorial defense member who is an art specialist.
