How Ukrainian Cities Take Coronavirus Under Control

New initiatives are emerging every day in Ukrainian cities to overcome the crisis caused by the spread of COVID-19. Citizens and authorities come together to support those who are at risk and those incurring losses. To find out who supports you and how they do that, read on:

  • Lviv. The City Council has taken a strong approach to supporting small and medium-sized businesses during #COVID19. In particular, all entrepreneurs renting communal property are exempt from the rent.

  • In Khmelnytskyi they launched the "Kupui Khmelnitske" initiative. This is how the City Council disseminates information about local producers and encourages locals to support them.

  • Kharkiv officials have purchased and will distribute 1 million masks to city residents. But not the only masks! The local government was marked by unprecedented openness: Kharkiv mayor gave his personal mobile number live. He even responded to complaints and appeals from the locals.

  • Mariupol. The City Council has allocated UAH 17 million to food kits for residents over 75 years of age. For these funds, 62 thousand food kits were purchased and handed over.

  • In Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Mariupol, Sievierodonetsk, Novoaidar, Popasna, Stanytsia Luhanska and Zaporizhzhia, NGO’s initiative "Let's Beat COVID-19 Together" is operating. You can apply for free legal or psychological aid at //stopcovid-19.com.ua, or join the initiative as volunteers. For example, you can support the elderly and the homeless, help to raise funds, products, medication for them.

Finally, we want to share a website where you can check all the information about COVID-19.

We will be updating this material weekly, so share some great initiatives from your cities with us.
